Balance Forward and Specials accounts receivable processing in “blue screen” is being sunset. Going forward, all accounts will be converted to Open Items accounts, and accounts receivable will only be accessible in HITS BPOS (point-and-click).
.
With Open Items accounts receivable, each transaction carries its own balance and due date. Payments (and credits) can still be applied oldest forward, or transactions can be individually disbursed. Additionally, HITS BPOS makes it easier to “undisburse” payments when errors or applies need to be reversed. See the video below to learn more about Open Items accounts.
.
To see when your accounts will be converted, from the Help menu in HITS BPOS, go to Migrate Blue Screen
** The above screenshot is an example. Your scheduled date may differ.
When your Balance Forward and Specials customers are converted to Open Items, their current total account balance will be shown as a “balance forward” on their statement on the date of your last aging.
Transactions after this date will be individually listed on the customer’s statement and will carry their own balance.

Example Customer Account in HITS BPOS:
From the Customer A/R Info Lookup screen in HITS BPOS, you can see a customer’s account history.
By default, this will show only transactions that have an uncleared balance. However, you can click on the Change Search Criteria button if you want to also view cleared transactions.
Additionally, from the customer menu there is an option to view the Customer A/R Info Lookup – Balance Forward Style. This screen will emulate the running account balance, similar to how the lookup showed in the blue screen.
If you previously used the “Mark Invoices As Paid” reference feature in blue screen for balance forward accounts, please note that this information (invoices marked as paid) will NOT transfer over as part of the conversion.
In Balance Forward A/R, balances were never kept at the invoice level, hence this information not being able to be converted.
Going forward, balances will be stored at the invoice level, making it possible for your customers to remit payment while referencing specific invoices.
